JASPER — A Warrick County man was cited into court on a pair of misdemeanor charges after an accident late Saturday night north of Jasper.
Kenneth R. Powers, 19, Lynnville, was westbound on County Road 500N in a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 series truck when the 11:41 p.m. accident occurred 200 feet north of U.S. 231, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Powers told a deputy he did not realize how fast the was going when he ran off a curve in the roadway east of the highway intersection. His truck ran over a “stop ahead” sign, and stopped at the highway in a ditch.
On Tuesday, misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of an accident and minor consuming were filed against Powers in Dubois Superior Court as a result of the investigation into the accident.
Total damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
