Motorist at accident scene accused of OWI

JASPER — Police arrested a motorist who came upon authorities at an accident scene early Saturday and accused him of impaired driving.

Lines were down and police and an ambulance were on the scene of a vehicle-versus-utility police accident at Ninth and Dorbett streets at 2:13 a.m. when Denny R. Pauckner, 44, 111 S. Washington St., Dale, drove up to the scene in a 1994 Ford Ranger, according to the Jasper Police Department.

Authorities said Pauckner was stopped after allegedly trying to drive around their emergency vehicles. His BAC tested .18 percent at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to police.

Pauckner was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:39 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
