Minivan sustains major damage in deer collision

MENTOR — A Birdseye man’s minivan was likely totaled in a Monday morning collision with a deer west of Mentor.

Terry M. Coffey, 35, Birdseye, was westbound on State Road 64 in a 2007 Nissan Quest when a deer entered onto the highway west of Mentor Road South, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

Coffey was unable to avoid the animal and damage to the Nissan was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

A Sternberg Automotive Group wrecker towed the damaged vehicle.
