Michael Alan Eck, 61, Petersburg
December 7, 2020Michael Alan Eck was born July 11, 1959, in Peterburg, to Austin and Carma (Chew) Eck. He lived his life in Peterburg where he was very loved by friends and family. Mike enjoyed being active in the community and engaged in conversation with anyone who was willing. Mike was a devout parishioner at the Gospel Center Church, Peterburg. Mike spent his days cheering on his family at sporting events and competitions, and he was known to end his day by reading his bible and doing crossword puzzles.

Mike attended Peterburg Elementary and graduated high school from Pike Central (1978). While in high school Mike excelled in Football and Baseball and was offered several scholarships. Mike was the 1st person to hit a home run out of the newly built Pike Central Chargers field. Mike loved basketball but did not play because he refused to cut his hair.
Mike was a man fond of love and was married twice, Starla Wiseman, deceased, and Christina Eck. He had enormous love for his children and grandchildren and would share with everyone how proud he was of each one. He was known to be the 2nd hardest worker, only under his father Austin Eck. Frequently he would be an hour or more early to every event, typically the 1st person there.
Mike was a fighter and overcame many personal and health battles before God called him home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Carma (Chew) Eck, Brother David Eck, Sister Karen Collins (Eck), Grandparents Joe and Myrtice Chew (Chameness), Aunt and Uncle Betty Catt (Chew) and Bob Catt, and Uncle Clifford Chew.
He was blessed with a large number of descendants who will miss his wit and regular cheering on. He is survived by his 3 sons Sean Eck (Kimberly), Shaine Eck (Ariel), Eli Eck, 2 Daughters Libby (Kale) Shelton (Bell), Shayna Eck. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren Zane Pride (14), Tanner Shelton (13) Kole Eck (8), Avery Eck (8), Presleigh Bell (5), Caleb Eck (4), Blakely Eck (3), Zeppelin Benjamin (3), Kade Shelton (3). Brother Larry Eck (Julie Weeks), Cousin Jerry Bob Catt, nieces and nephews, Krista Storey (Collins), Trent Eck, Troy Eck, Brian Collins, Michele (Dale) Cardinal (Collins), and Tracy Eck.
A viewing will be held at The Gospel Center, Illinois Street, Peterburg, IN 47567 on Wednesday, December 9th from 11a-1pm, preceding a service. Those who wish to follow, burial will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distance are required.
Memorial Contributions can be made to PAWS (Pike Animal Welfare Shelter) and The Gospel Center Church.
