Meeting: Northeast Dubois Schools

The Northeast Dubois School Board met Tuesday and:

• Heard from Superintendent Bill Hochgesang that construction at the high school is going well. Renderings of what things will look like when the work is completed are on the school district’s website, he said. Northeast Dubois’ website is www.nedubois.k12.in.us.

• Heard that free lunch will be available to students in summer school as well as for the youth in the community who are not in summer school. Those who aren’t in summer school can sign up for the meal; contact the superintendent’s office, 812-678-2781, for information. The free meal will continue through the next school year as free breakfast and lunch.

• Heard from Northeast Dubois Junior-Senior High School Principal Tara Rasche that safe practices, including social distancing, people sitting in family pods and wearing masks, will be in place for the upcoming Class of 2021 graduation. The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 29, and each graduate will be given eight tickets for the program. People are asked to carpool if possible to make sure there is enough parking.

• Hired Jamie Strange as a language arts teacher and Rachel Breitweiser as the head swimming coach at the junior-senior high school, Carly Terwiske as a summer school teacher at Northeast Dubois Intermediate School and Katie Gogel as the teacher for the High Ability Camp that will be held at the intermediate school this summer.
