Meeting: Jasper Utility Service Board

The Jasper Utility Service Board met Monday and:

• Heard that Electric Commissioner Wayne Schuetter was not reappointed to the Utility Service Board. Service board members and Jasper Common Council members in attendance spoke about the positive impact Schuetter had on the municipal utilities during his time on the board. Schuetter received a certificate from the city to honor his 12 years of service. Phil Schmidt will take over the position beginning Jan. 1.

• Approved a change order that will deduct $9,100 from the final cost the U.S. 231 waterline replacement project. A full update story on the project is on Page One.

• Heard that the deconstruction of the 15th street power plant is on pace to wrap up in the near future. General Utilities Manager Bud Hauersperger said he thinks the deconstruction will be close to completed in a couple months.

• Approved 2019 capital expenditures for the electric, gas, water and wastewater departments, as well as the business office.
