Meeting: Jasper Public Library

The Jasper Public Library Board met Thursday and:

• Heard that the summer food program the library partnered with the Tri-State Food Bank to offer has been hectic. Library Director Christine Golden said that next year, the library will likely look at asking the community for donations of snacks so the library can build its own program. The Birdseye Branch did that this year, and it was a success. Golden said she’d also like to be able to set something up to have snacks on hand year-round for kids to come in and ask for a snack if they need it.

• Heard that construction crews on the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center lost the month of June due to rain and are working to catch back up. The project is still on track for completion by the end of 2020.

• Heard that crews are working on drilling the aggregate piers that will serve as a part of the foundation for the cultural center. The next step will be digging the footers. The crews also finished grading the parking lot and will be working on stabilization there over the weekend.
