Meeting: Jasper Plan Commission

The Jasper Plan Commission met Wednesday and:

• Favorably recommended changes to the city’s sign ordinance to the Jasper Common Council.

• Granted Kerstiens Development Inc. primary approval of a planned unit development for Autumn Creek III, a development that would bring 10 homes and eight quadplexes to the area near Reyling Drive and 34th Street. Before the primary approval, nearby residents expressed concerns regarding increased traffic, the devaluing of property and the potential of increased flooding problems in the area. The approval was the first of two the development will need from the plan commission, the next being the entity’s final approval of the PUD’s language.

• Tabled the decision to rezone four lots of land near Mehringer Plumbing from residential to heavy industrial. Dennis “Bucket” Mehringer and concerned members of an adjacent neighborhood are going to discuss property screening options before the commission’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at City Hall, 610 Main Street. Those residents expressed concerns regarding the future of the lots that could be rezoned and how they could impact the property values of nearby homes.
