Meeting: Jasper Plan Commission
January 3, 2019The Jasper Plan Commission met Wednesday and:
• Elected officers for the year. The slate will remain the same as in 2018: Paul Lorey will serve as president, Dan Buck as vice president and Lisa Schmidt as secretary.
• Further discussed potentially changing the requirements for electronic variable message signage and mobile billboards (vehicles being used as signs) through changes in the city’s unified development ordinance. No action was taken on the discussed changes. Several business owners and concerned parties in attendance asked questions and requested clarification on the language — which has not been finalized — and also offered suggestions. The public is encouraged to reach out to plan commission members and the city’s community development and planning office at City Hall to share their thoughts on the two issues. The discussion will continue at the commission’s next meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at City Hall, 610 Main St.
