Meeting: Jasper Park Board

The Jasper Park Board met Tuesday and:

• Approved Strassenfest organizers to use park-related properties during the annual summer festival, which will take place Thursday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 4.

• Heard a golf report from John Bertges. Buffalo Trace Golf Course brought in $47,873.53 in April, compared to $54,176.61 in April 2018. But, the course has still made more money in 2019 than it had at this point last year.

• Heard a pool update from Janessa Wagner. Summer employee training is complete, and the pool passed an inspection on Tuesday morning. It will begin being filled with water today. The locker rooms have been painted, and the pool’s slide will be washed and touched up soon. Wagner said the staff is also thinking about adding walking tacos to the concession stand this summer, and the food menu could also be switched up or revamped in other ways.

• Heard an update on the Parklands of Jasper and approved change orders for ongoing work at the site. Drainage issues have led to extra landscaping work, such as regrading, the planting of bushes later this fall, the installation of curbs around mulch washout areas and more. The total cost of the change orders is $103,932. That money will come from the Parklands budget.
