Meeting: Jasper Park Board

The Jasper Park Board met Tuesday and:

• Opened bids for a project that will waterproof the oldest part of the Habig Community Center basement. The city received three bids: one from Young’s Masonry & Building Inc., of Jasper at $26,950; one from LAN Concrete Technology LLC of Jasper at $18,609.78; and another from Bramwell-McKay Masonry of Jasper at $26,412. The bids were taken under advisement to discuss prices and warranties.

• Heard a report on the Jasper Municipal Swimming Pool. During the last two years, pool attendance is down and so is revenue. Recreation Director Janessa Wolf attributed the low numbers to the lack of pool parties as well as poorer concessions and swim coupon sales. She explained that middle school-age children were noticeably missing from the pool this year. The board will further discuss how to address the problem at its next board meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the council chambers at City Hall, 610 Main St.

• Accepted a quote for a tractor backhoe attachment from Hopf Outdoor Power of Jasper for $7,053. Also accepted a change order of $34,635 for various changes at the Jasper Parklands.
