Meeting: Jasper Board of Zoning Appeals

The Jasper Board of Zoning Appeals met Wednesday and:

• Approved a variance for the Walmart Supercenter on Newton Street that will allow the building signs to exceed the maximum square footage permitted in the city’s unified development ordinance. A representative from Harrison French & Associates explained that the company is undergoing a brand phasing change. The new signs on the building will cover a total of about 274 square feet, an increase of about 34 square feet from the current signage.

• Heard that a public open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Jasper Parklands Pavilion to discuss the city’s ongoing comprehensive plan work.
