Meeting: Jasper Board of Public Works

The Jasper Board of Public Works and Safety met Tuesday and:

• Opened two bids for tree limb collection and grinding. The quotes were taken under advisement and the street department plans to come back to December’s meeting with a recommendation.

• Opened three bids for 25 automated external defibrillators for the police department. The board approved the low bid of $33,375 from Heart Reach Medical. The department has the funds to cover the majority of the AEDs but will need additional funding, which will be determined at a later date.

• Approved conditional offers of employment to Clinton Stewart and Briar Meadors as probationary police officers. The board also decided to keep a third applicant on an active eligibility list for 24 months.

• Approved City Attorney Renee Kabrick to continue work on an interlocal agreement between the cities of Jasper and Huntingburg and Dubois County regarding a trail connectivity project. The agreement will state that Jasper is the primary contact and financial party with respect to contracting with VS Engineering.
