Meeting: Huntingburg Common Council
July 15, 2020The Huntingburg Common Council met Tuesday and:
• Approved a services contract with an individual who will provide translation services for the city. The individual will translate documents into Spanish — namely the city’s unified development ordinance, which leadership is in the process of updating.
• Approved applying for a $7.9 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for the city’s planned wastewater project. The project has a total price tag of around $19 million, and the city is already working with the United States Department of Agriculture on loans to cover the cost of construction. This grant would reduce the amount of those funds.
• Approved a request from the Huntingburg Country Club for a plan to pump water from Huntingburg Lake into the country club’s lake as needed. Mayor Denny Spinner explained that “they buy water from the city for irrigation purposes, but this is just a way to kind of replenish the lake and keep their irrigation system running well.”
