Meeting: Huntingburg Common Council
March 25, 2020The Huntingburg Common Council met online Tuesday evening and:
• Decided to allow electronic attendance at meetings, which is how meetings will be for a while. Tuesday night’s meeting was steamed live on Facebook. Mayor Denny Spinner said that other public government meetings will also be streamed.
• Extended the moratorium for disconnecting utilities for nonpayment and gave Spinner the authority to continue the moratorium for as long as needed. City Attorney Phil Schneider said one of the governor’s executive orders prohibits public utilities from doing disconnections at this time because of nonpayment.
• Established emergency protocols for paying claims, making deposits and taking care of payroll.
• Approved a recommended zoning change to allow Viasat to erect a communications tower on Styline Drive to serve logistics companies in the area.
