Meeting: Huntingburg Board of Public Works

The Huntingburg Board of Public Works and Safety met Wednesday morning and:

• Approved the use of streets for the Herbstfest parade, which will start at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26. The parade route is the same as in years past.

• Welcomed Dan Fitch to the board. Fitch replaces Neil Elkins, who is moving to a new job with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and will not have enough time to tend to the duties of the public works board.

• Heard that sidewalks will be installed on part of First Street, including in front of the Huntingburg Police Station and A Kids’ Place. When completed, there will be sidewalks on both sides of First from Jackson to Van Buren streets, Street Superintendent Jason Stamm said.

• Approved holding the city’s Fall Cleanup Days Oct. 7, 8 and 9. Details on the event are in today’s Herald.
