Meeting: Dubois County Park Board

The Dubois County Park Board met Tuesday morning and:

• Talked about using some of the department’s funding for part-timers to add a part-time worker who would help the department’s staff with tasks like mowing. So far, the comp time budget has been exhausted and another $4,000 was moved into the fund to cover the rest of the year. Park Superintendent Bob Gress said that with additional work that needs to be done because of the virus, like cleaning and sanitizing, his work load has increased, resulting in comp time.

• Heard that the park’s $250,000 Land and Water Conservation grant application is almost through the approval process. It is being signed by different departments, said Lisa Gehlhausen, executive director of Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission. The process has taken a little longer due to COVID-19, she said. The money will be matched with park funds and used for improvements to the county park, including adding some RV campsites, a restroom building/information center, a paved parking lot near the restroom building and trail improvements.
