Meeting: Dubois County Park
July 15, 2020The Dubois County Park Board met Tuesday and:
• Heard the details of the board’s 2021 budget proposal. The amount is $237,490, which is a 3% increase from the 2020 budget. The Dubois County Council will review the budgets in August.
• Heard a superintendent report from Bob Gress. The park’s campgrounds sat empty between mid-March and late May but boomed in June after reopening. Business has “slowed down some” in July, Gress said.
• Heard that the board has still not received official notice that it has received a $250,000 Land and Water Conservation matching grant. That grant is pending federal approval and would facilitate adding campsites, extending trails and building a restroom and information building at the Dubois County Park. While she is confident the park will receive the grant, even if it doesn’t, Board President Christine Prior voiced support for moving forward with the campsite projects. The board approved seeking of quotes for a topographical survey that will tie into the plan.
