Meeting: Dubois County Airport Authority
November 10, 2020The Dubois County Airport Authority met Monday and:
• Approved a resolution with Dubois County officials for the loan the county is giving the airport. The loan is for up to $1.5 million, with an interest rate of .5%, to be used for expenses pertaining to the runway extension project. The airport authority can draw money as it needs to, and the funding that is loaned to the airport must be paid back by November 2022 at the latest. Money that is borrowed will be paid back using the grant funding the Federal Aviation Administration is giving the airport for the project.
• Adopted a resolution that follows the state’s rules for abandoned aircraft on airport property, effective Jan. 1.
• Heard that authority board member Courtney Schwartz was elected to the Southwest Dubois School Board. Since both seats are considered to be lucrative positions, Schwartz will have to step down from one of them, board attorney Phil Schneider said. Authority members said they will be on the lookout for another person interested in serving on the authority board, which is a Huntingburg mayoral appointment.
