Meeting: Dubois County Airport Authority
June 9, 2020The Dubois County Airport Authority met Monday and:
• Learned that the airport’s runway project and Huntingburg’s electrical work on the project was featured in the Indiana Municipal Power Agency’s latest newsletter.
• Heard an update on the runway work from Project Engineer Curtis Brown of Woolpert Inc. Construction crews came across a coal site when working in the area of the tunnel walls; that required the coal to be excavated and the area to be backfilled, Brown said. When digging foundations, the rock layer was lower than expected; that required additional concrete and steel to be added to thicken the foundation. Topsoil is also being moved. “This is where we will find some ‘hidden gems,’” Brown said.
