Meeting: Dubois County Airport Authority

The Dubois County Airport Authority met Monday and:

• Heard that Airport Manager Travis McQueen and board member Bob Johnson looked at terminal buildings at other airports. The board is looking at building a new, updated terminal. Johnson said that some of things he heard from people at the other terminals is that the terminal should have a security system that includes cameras, enough visibility that the people inside can see planes take off and land, and cubicle space for people to work.

• Opened multiple bids from four bidders wanting to replace roofs on two of the airport hangars. The board tabled the bids and told McQueen and engineer Curtis Brown of Woolpert Inc. to review the bids and bring a suggestion back to the board next month.

• Heard that McQueen is talking to local bankers to see if there is a way funding could be available to families so that students can earn a pilot’s license while in high school.
