Meeting: Contractual Library Board

The Dubois County
Contractual Library Board met Thursday and:

• Heard that overall program attendance at library programs is up 15 percent this year from last year. At the Dubois branch, young adult program attendance is up 33 percent, a statistic Library Director Christine Golden said is impressive because young adults tend to be a hard demographic to attract.

• Heard that the summer science, technology, engineering and math camps have been going well. The board thanked the many volunteers who have helped with those.

• Heard a programming update on the Dubois branch from Branch Manager Anita Murphy. Murphy said she has several music presentations coming up, including Gary Larsen who performs Celtic music around the world and David Hurt, a Kentucky performer who will perform as Grandpa Jones from the old TV series “Hee Haw.”

• Heard that Bill Shaneyfelt, the board’s attorney, will be retiring. The board set up a committee to find a new board attorney. The Jasper Public Library Board did the same.
