Meeting: Community Corrections

The Dubois County Community Corrections met Tuesday and:

• Enacted policies to allow field officers who go to homes to check on clients, like those on house arrest, to carry a taser. The officers will be trained on how to use them, Corrections Director Megan Durlauf said.

• Heard presentations for adding wireless internet to the community corrections building. The board asked that information be collected on the cost of having broadband with a firewall for the drug and alcohol program staff, who cannot connect into the internet service currently in the facility.

• Heard that community corrections did well in the audit conducted by the Indiana Department of Correction.
