JASPER — Authorities say a medical issue factored into a Friday afternoon mishap just southeast of Jasper.
James A. Lambert, 57, Covington, Kentucky, was southbound on State Road 162 in a 2013 Ford Econoline E-250 when the 4:26 p.m. accident occurred south of Schnellville Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the van Lambert was driving ran off the west side of the highway, and went over a rock culvert and into a ditch before stopping.
Police said Lambert was experiencing a medical issue and a witness to the accident who was a nurse stopped to aid him. Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services was called to the scene. A hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
