Mary Lou Blessinger, 86, Huntingburg

Mary Lou Blessinger, 86, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Mary Lou was born in Huntingburg on January 24, 1932, to Anselm and Emma (Reckelhoff) Heitz. She married Conrad “Coonie” Blessinger on April 24, 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.

She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed attending church picnics and doing scratch-off tickets, and was an animal lover.  She was an avid Dubois County Bombers, Forest Park Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.

Surviving are three daughters, Lisa Blessinger, Huntingburg, Tammy (Thomas) Wahl, Seymour, and Gina (Robert) Jochem, St. Henry; six sons, Stephen Blessinger, Huntingburg, Randy (Yvonne) Blessinger, Evansville, Dana Blessinger, Huntingburg, Dean (Lydia) Blessinger, Ferdinand, Eric (Victoria) Blessinger, St. Anthony, and Conrad Blessinger Jr., Huntingburg; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one son, Michael Blessinger, who died in infancy; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Earl and Chase Blessinger; two sisters, Norma Truelove and Anselma Heitz; one brother, Robert Heitz; and one half-brother, Clarence Reckelhoff.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Blessinger will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.  St. Mary’s Parish will pray a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Riley’s Children Hospital, or to a favorite charity.
