Marjorie "Margie" A. Knies, 94, St. Anthony
December 21, 2020Marjorie "Margie" A. Knies, age 94 of St. Anthony, Indiana passed away Sunday morning (December 20, 2020) at Memorial Hospital, Jasper, Indiana from pneumonia following a positive COVID test. She was born on October 15, 1926 at Muncie, Indiana to Anthony and Helen (Greenwell) Nordhoff.

She married Charles on June 4, 1946 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana; he preceded her in death on February 14, 2012. She worked at Republic Aviation in Evansville, was a caregiver for families in Indianapolis and Evansville, and later worked for her family business, Knies Sawmill & Hardwood Flooring Company in Bretzville. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Her hobbies were spending time with her family and playing cards.
Surviving are: Four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Rebecca) Schaefer, Tucson, AZ, Mrs. Donald (Deborah) Neu, Huntingburg, IN, Mrs. Joseph (Carla) Hoffman, St. Anthony, IN, Mrs. Perry (Rachel) Welp, Ferdinand, IN; Two sons, David Knies and spouse (Janice Thewes) Jasper, IN, Chad Knies and spouse (Kathy Smith) Huntingburg, IN; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is one son, Donald Knies; one granddaughter, Tina Schaefer; five sisters, Lillian Fritz, Lucille Merkel, Helen Merkel, Monica Rose “Rosie” Gugtsell, and Mary Lou Kirst; four brothers, Charles, Bob, Bill, and Tony Nordhoff; and five siblings who died in infancy and childhood. Private services for immediate family only will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Bretzville Cemetery. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church - Monte Casino Shrine in St. Meinrad or a favorite charity.
