HUNTINGBURG — Police arrested a Delaware County man Tuesday after an off-duty police officer reported noticing the odor of marijuana coming from the SUV he was driving.
A Dubois County Sheriff’s Department deputy located the suspect’s Chevrolet TrailBlazer — it had a Dodge passenger car’s plate on it — in a lot off Fourth Street just after 1 p.m., according to authorities.
The deputy also reported noticing the smell of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Police say the driver, Kevin N. Cavanaugh, 26, Muncie, consented to a vehicle search that located marijuana and paraphernalia.
Authorities booked Cavanaugh into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:37 p.m. on preliminary misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession and possession of paraphernalia. Cavanaugh posted bond later in the afternoon.
The Huntingburg Police Department and Jasper Police Department assisted.
