JASPER — Police arrested a motorist for driving while impaired after stopping his vehicle for a traffic infraction.
A Jasper Police Department officer observed a 2016 Chevrolet southbound on Newton Street fail to stop at Third Street before turning east on Third Street at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver, Jaime A. Guillen Castro, 36, 545 Kuper Lane, Jasper, showed signs of impairment, according to police, and the officer noticed the odor associated with alcohol consumption coming from the vehicle.
Police said Guillen Castro’s blood alcohol content tested .123% on a certified breath test at the Jasper Police Station.
Authorities booked Guillen Castro into the Dubois County Security Center at 12:25 a.m. today on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
