Man outside bar accused of public intoxicationFebruary 3, 2020

JASPER — A report Saturday night of a man who was bleeding outside a city bar and grill resulted in a public intoxication arrest.
The Jasper Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Main Street at 9:14 p.m. and located Thomas A. Hughey, 26, Washington, outside the establishment. Police called EMS to the scene because Hughey had a knot on his forehead and a wound that was bleeding.
Witnesses said Hughey had fallen while exiting, and hit his face on the ground.
Hughey, who was reported as unsteady on his feet and who had an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, refused transport to the hospital for treatment. Police indicated Hughey seemed unsure of what was going on and failed to arrange a ride home to Daviess County after being given multiple chances to do so.
Police said Hughey’s blood alcohol content tested .382% on a portable breath test. After ultimately being taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care for medical clearance, Hughey was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:30 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of public intoxication.
