JASPER — A report this morning of a man passed out behind the wheel of a car outside a Clay Street bar resulted in a public intoxication arrest.
In a media release, the Jasper Police Department reports being called to the parking lot of JR’s Bar, 23 S. Clay St., at 5:30 a.m.
Police say David W. Kerstiens, 49, 644 W. Southview Drive, Ferdinand, was located sleeping in an Oldsmobile.
Authorities say it was determined Kerstiens was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol content that tested .184% on a portable breath test. He was also argumentative and belligerent, attempting to get back into the vehicle against the requests of officers, police alleged.
Kerstiens was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 6:30 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of public intoxication.
