Man jailed in drug case aftermath

JASPER — Indiana State Police brought a Martin County man to jail Saturday on a warrant related to his sentence in a drug case.

Weldon L. Edwards, 54, Loogootee, pleaded guilty in January to Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and was ordered as part of his February sentencing to complete 80 hours of community service within four months. In July, according to court documents, Edwards was ordered to serve 10 days in the Dubois County Security Center beginning Aug. 30 because he had failed to complete any of his community service hours.

Edwards failed to come to the security center at the end of August, prompting a warrant to be issued for his arrest.

Authorities served the warrant and booked Edwards into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:08 p.m. Saturday to serve out the 10 days as previously ordered.
