JASPER — Authorities booked a Jasper man into the Dubois County Security Center during the weekend on a Level 4 felony count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

During a June 25 welfare check at a residence, a Jasper Police Department officer came in contact with Terry L. Taylor, 51, 567 Eversman Drive, and observed a 9mm Beretta handgun.

Later, while making a report of the incident, the officer learned that Taylor had been convicted of several violent felonies and was not allowed to be in possession of firearms, according to court documents.

A warrant charging with the firearms offense was issued out of Dubois Circuit Court June 28. Authorities booked Taylor into the security center at 6:44 p.m. Friday on the active warrant and he posted bond that night.
