JASPER — A Martin County man was booked into jail this week on a warrant charging him with strangulation and domestic battery.
The charges against William J. Schimke, 48, Loogootee, stem from a June 30 incident investigated by the Jasper Police Department, according to an affidavit.
Police were called to a report of a physical domestic the night of June 30, with officers arriving after Schimke had left.
After an investigation, a warrant was issued out of Dubois Circuit Court charging Schimke with Level 6 felony strangulation and misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and battery.
Authorities booked Schimke into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:29 p.m. Monday on the active warrant. During an initial hearing Tuesday, a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on Schimke’s behalf and he was released from custody on a previously posted bond with moderate pretrial monitoring.
