Man charged with sexual misconduct with minor

HUNTINGBURG — A Huntingburg man and woman were arrested Wednesday evening for charges involving abuse and sexual misconduct involving a minor.
Seth L. Fakes, 42, and Jaime L Schnarr, 45, both of 1243 N. Cherry St., were arrested by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Fakes was charged with attempted child molesting, a Level 4 felony, attempted child solicitation and attempted sexual misconduct with a minor, both Level 5 felonies, and sexual battery, a Level 6 felony. Schnarr was charged with neglect of a dependent and domestic battery, both level 6 felonies.
According to the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office’s affidavit listing Fakes’ charges, between Aug. 1 and 21, 2020, Fakes touched the pubic area of the victim, who was a child. Between Aug. 1 and Sept. 5, 2020, Fakes touched the victim “when Victim 1 was compelled to submit to the touching by force or the imminent threat of force.” The affidavit also stated that between Aug. 1, 2018, and Aug. 21, 2020, Fakes offered $600 “to engage in fondling or touching intended to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires of either Victim 1 or Seth L. Fakes.”
The affidavit concerning Schnarr stated that on our about Sept. 5, Schnarr deprived the victim, who was in her care, of necessary support, as well as “knowingly or intentionally touched Victim 1, a family or household member in a rude, insolent, or angry manner.” Schnarr did this in the presence of a child less that 16 years old, according to the affidavit.
Charges against Fakes and Schnarr were filed on Tuesday. Their next court hearings are being scheduled for the first week of March.
