Man charged with failing to return to lawful detention

JASPER — A Huntingburg man was jailed last week on a warrant charging him with failing to return to lawful detention.


Austin S. Zehr, 22, 107 W. Second St., was participating in the Dubois County Community Corrections Center’s work release program when he failed to return to the center June 28, according to court documents.

A warrant for his arrest on a Level 6 felony count of failure to return to lawful detention was issued July 9 in Dubois Superior Court. Zehr was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on Monday, July 16, on the active warrant.

During an initial appearance in court Tuesday, July 17, a preliminary not guilty plea was entered on his behalf by the court and he was ordered to be held in the security center pending his next court appearance, which was set for Aug. 9.
