Man charged with counterfeiting, theft

JASPER — Authorities booked a Martin County man into jail Thursday on a Dubois County warrant charging him with counterfeiting and theft.

Court records allege that, on Dec. 30, Noah J. Cox, 22, Loogootee, had a fake $100 bill he used to get food at a Jasper fast food restaurant. The Jasper Police Department investigated the incident and, with assistance from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, identified Cox as a suspect.

A warrant was issued out of Dubois Circuit Court Jan. 8 charging Cox with Level 6 felony counterfeiting and misdemeanor theft.

Authorities booked Cox into the Dubois County Security Center at 4:45 p.m. Thursday on the active warrant.
