JASPER — A man was booked into the Dubois County Security Center early Friday afternoon on a Dubois Circuit Court warrant charging him with two misdemeanor counts of check deception.

The warrant charging Jeromy W. Dean, 43, 480 Kirkwood Drive, Jasper, was originally issued in September 2017 and was reissued in March.

Court documents indicate the case involves allegations that a $22.60 bad check was delivered at Spud’s Food Mart on June 29, 2016, and a $180 bad check was delivered at Dubois County Tire & Supply on July 19, 2016.

Dean appeared in court Friday and a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf by Judge Nathan Verkamp. The Lindeman Law Office was appointed to represent Dean as pauper counsel, his next court appearance was set for Oct. 1 and he was released on his own recognizance.
