Man arrested on sexual charges

A French Lick man was arrested Friday night following an investigation involving a minor.
Indiana State Police Detective Jarrod Lents launched a criminal investigation Sept. 29 after receiving information from the Dubois County Department of Child Services concerning allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor.
The investigation revealed that Derek T. Breitwieser, 30, French Lick, had allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor under the age of 16 and sexual battery. This allegation took place in Dubois County.
After reviewing the investigation, the Dubois County prosecutor asked for a warrant to be issued for Breitwieser's arrest. A warrant was issued by the Dubois court on Oct. 16.
Trooper Adam McBeth arrested Breitwieser Friday on the active warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Dubois County Jail.
He faces two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony, and two counts of sexual battery, a Level 6 felony.
