Man arrested in drive-thru

JASPER — A Jasper man was arrested Thursday evening after being found to be under the influence while in a fast food restaurant’s drive-thru line.

Jasper Police arrested Jonathan Uppencamp, 38, and charged him with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment and possession of paraphernalia.

Officers were called at 7:53 p.m. to the south side McDonald’s, 450 U.S. 231, about a possible intoxicated driver. Officers arrived and talked to the driver, Uppencamp, who was behind the wheel of a 2003 GMC Yukon in the restaurant’s drive-thru. After investigating, officers determined that he was under the influence of narcotics and in possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.

After conducting a chemical analysis, Uppencamp was booked into the Dubois County Security Center, police said.
