Man arrested for resisting law enforcement

HUNTINGBURG — A motorist was accused of resisting law enforcement after a Friday evening traffic stop.

A Huntingburg Police Department officer stopped a Buick near State Road 64 and County Road 400W at 7:50 p.m. after allegedly clocking the vehicle in the 800 block of Chestnut Street traveling at 44 mph in the 25 mph zone.

Police allege the driver, Gene P. Fischer, 62, 7419 S. 585W, Huntingburg, was very agitated and not complying during the stop. Police allege that, when officers were attempting to detain him, Fischer violently pulled away and made a striking motion.

Authorities booked Fischer into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:54 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement.
