FERDINAND — Police arrested a Kentucky man Thursday morning after finding him unlawfully possessing syringes.
A Ferdinand Police Department officer responded to Circle A Food Mart, 460 S. Main St., at 8 a.m. after a member of the public said there was a man seemingly passed out and hunched over the steering wheel of a van in the parking lot there.
An officer located the van in a “no parking” spot and made contact with the man behind the wheel, Andrew W. Thomas, 29, of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky.
Police allege Thomas had three syringes and a bloody spoon on his person. A fourth syringe was found in the vehicle’s console.
Authorities booked Thomas into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:58 a.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of unlawful possession of syringes.
A Jasper Police Department K-9 unit assisted.
