KYANA — An investigation into a leaving-the-scene accident early Saturday resulted in a man’s arrest on several preliminary charges.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 12:30 a.m. after a car that rear-ended another vehicle left eastbound on State Road 64 from the Huntingburg area.
A responding deputy approaching Pine Ridge Road then saw a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with heavy front-end damage, a headlight out and its bumper dragging the ground. The deputy said the car turned onto Kyana Road and refused to stop until it pulled into a drive in the 5800 block of Kyana Road.
The sheriff’s office said the driver, Jacob D. Hannah, 33, 5846 Kyana Road, had a blood alcohol content that later tested .22% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Hannah into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:30 a.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and misdemeanor operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
