JASPER — A Dale man was arrested Tuesday night for drunk driving following his sport utility vehicle catching fire at St Charles Street and Truman Road.
Jonathan J. Hunsicker, 40, Dale, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content more than .15%.
Jasper firefighters and Jasper Police were called to the vehicle fire at 10:34 p.m. Hunsicker had driven his Subaru Outback through the construction area at U.S. 231 between HRJ Lane and Division Road before his vehicle caught on fire, police reported.
Hunsicker sustained neck injuries and was treated on the scene by Memorial Emergency Medical Services, police said. He was taken to Memorial Hospital for a chemical test, where his blood-alcohol content registered at .38%.
Hunsicker’s Subaru was a total loss, police said. He was arrested and lodged into the Dubois County Security Center. Luegers Wrecker Service and the Dubois County Sheriff Officer also assisted at the scene.
