Man arrested following police altercation

JASPER — A man was arrested Friday night at Fifth and Newton streets after he started fighting against the officers who were checking on his well being.

Jalouis A. Holland, 21, Terre Haute, was charged with intimidation, public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Jasper Police officers responded to a call at 11:34 p.m. for a welfare check of a man who was passed out at the Strassenfest. Upon arrival, officers determined that the man, Holland, was intoxicated. When they made contact with him, Holland began to resist, and was placed in custody, police reported. Holland later made intimidating comments toward the officers, police said.

He was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
