Man arrested after leaving accident sceneSeptember 27, 2021

JASPER — A Saturday evening accident at the intersection of Baden Strasse and Newton Street ended with the arrest of a Coatesville man.
Max C. Reinhardt, 34, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
At 6:54 pm., a Jasper Police officer was dispatched to the intersection in reference to a two-vehicle accident and found that one vehicle had left. After talking to the driver of the other vehicle, Brittney Cato, 34, of Celestine, police were able to identify the missing vehicle, according to the police’s report. The vehicle, belonging to Reinhardt, was found at the intersection of Sixth and St. John Street, police said.
Reinhardt admitted to leaving the scene and refusing to give information to the other driver in the accident, police said. Reinhardt was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
The accident resulted in $2,000 in damage to Cato’s Ford Explorer and $1,500 in damage to Reinhardt’s Toyota Corolla.
