JASPER — The Jasper Police Department arrested a man who crashed his scooter Monday night at 41st Street and Mannheim Road.
Police say Scott Welp, 49, of 348 W. 41st St., was eastbound on 41st Street at the time of the 10:55 p.m. accident. Welp attempted a U-turn and overturned the scooter he was operating, according to authorities.
Welp complained of rib pain and was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Police said Welp’s blood alcohol content tested .19 percent. After Welp was treated, police booked him into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:30 p.m. on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
