Man answers to theft, disorderly conduct charges

From Local Sources

JASPER — A Jasper man was booked Tuesday into the Dubois County Security Center on a local warrant charging him with misdemeanor theft.

While appearing in court on that charge, he also made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge from a separate incident.

In the theft matter, court documents allege Jaymin C. Coleman, 19, 407 E. 14th St., Jasper, exerted unauthorized control over various Jasper Public Library video games June 24.

A warrant for his arrest was issued a week ago in Dubois Superior Court. During an initial appearance Tuesday, a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf by the court, he was appointed pauper counsel and his next court appearance was set for Oct. 8.

Coleman had also been summoned to appear in Dubois Superior Court next month to answer to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. An initial hearing on that charge was moved up and also held Tuesday, with Coleman’s next appearance in that case also set for Oct. 8.

Court documents allege that, on Aug. 22, Coleman fought with a juvenile male in the street in the 400 block of 14th Street and the Jasper Police Department responded. A juvenile referral was sent to a juvenile probation officer regarding the other party involved in the street skirmish.
