Man answers to failure-to-appear warrants

JASPER — A Vanderburgh County man’s failure to appear at court hearings earlier this month resulted in him coming to the Dubois County Security Center this week.

Jeffery V. Lawless, 34, Evansville, was scheduled to be in Dubois Superior Court June 3 for pretrial hearings related to ongoing felony theft and forgery cases. When he failed to appear, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Lawless turned himself in and was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 6:08 p.m. Monday on the active failure-to-appear warrant. During a court appearance Tuesday, his cases were continued to June 18 go give him time to hire an attorney.
