Man accused to intimidation, animal cruelty

HUNTINGBURG — Police responding to an animal complaint arrested a man Sunday, accusing him of intimidation and cruelty to an animal.

A Dubois County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempting to ensure a dog would be properly cared for alleged Michael W. Wright, 55, 404 S. Main St., Huntingburg, backhanded the dog when it jumped up, threatened the deputy and two other individuals, yelled obscenities and repeatedly refused to comply with the commands of officers on the scene during the incident.

Authorities booked Wright into the Dubois County Security Center at 12:46 p.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony intimidation of a police officer and misdemeanor intimidation (two counts) and cruelty to an animal.

The Huntingburg Police Department assisted.
