JASPER — Police accused a Jasper man of failing to stop after his vehicle allegedly backed into another vehicle Friday evening.
The incident at American Legion Post 147 of Jasper, 1220 N. Newton St., was reported to the Jasper Police Department at 6:30 p.m.
Security footage led police to make contact with Gerald E. Newton, 65, 328 W. 13th St., Jasper, who allegedly stated he knew he had hit another vehicle but did not believe there to be much damage.
Authorities booked Newton into the Dubois County Security Center at 10:28 p.m. Saturday on a preliminary misdemeanor count of failure to stop after an accident. Newton posted bond Sunday morning.
